Open communicator with tough skin to take feedback from all stakeholders, be an innovative visionary to see the available resources re-wrapped to produce real solutions at a lower deployment cost than gutting everything (the typical approach) and a realistic understanding of what the business wants, the technology team can deliver and how to bring the two together.
Oh and be the next Dalai Lama or Socrates too
