What do you enjoy most about escrow officer work? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance? What keeps you at your job? |

What do I enjoy most? Earning the next deal! By being patient, taking time to know the client, understand and anticipate the next move by being pro-active. It's great to be trusted and a part of that first time buyers experience! I enjoy the level of communication, attention to detail and multi-tasking required to be successful in escrow. Dislike? People who blame others - if you make a mistake admit it and move on - in escrow because you are in the middle as the neutral party, often you become the target, so it is imperative you follow the contract. Challenging, yes, most definitely and always keep your mind open to learn and realize that rules often change, be smart and KNOW these changes. Opportunitys to learn and advance? Depends, often you will learn from a seasoned Escrow Officer, then again, some feel threatened sharing their knowledge - On a personal level, hmmn, well, if you were my assistant, I would make sure you were invovled as I truly believe that is the only way to learn escrow is to roll up your sleeves, dig deep, ask questions and pay attention. Not only be familiar with the file, realize it's the small things as well, example how a client is greeted, how the Escrow Officer weaves all the personalities together, calls placed and returned, follow up calls, and what's really important...relax, it/escrow will eventually come to you and if it all goes as planned, you will have an opportunity and career in which to learn something new almost every single day. Keeps me at my job? Hmmmmn...I wish...I had managed a office and due the the real estate market, my office was closed. I enjoyed land, commercial and residential transactions.I did accept a position at another title company but their lack of integrity caused me to vacate that position. As of todays date I have not yet returned, but very much look forward to when I can. I was involved in the industry since 1976 and was THAT PERSON...who truly enjoyed my job, the industry and do miss it greatly. |
