Hi All, I've been a printing estimator for over 20 years and due to changes in the industry, I am thinking of attending a community college program for construction management with an emphasis on estimating and project management. I have knowledge of home improvement/repairs/hard landscaping as my husband is self-employed in home repairs and improvements. My question is:

It is absolutely worth it for you to do this at any age. Don't let your age stop you EVER!! You are already a step ahead of most people your age as you have the want/desire to move forward with it. GO FOR IT! Don't let anyone tell you you are too old or too young! You aren't old anyway. Of course someone would hire you. When you do your resume, don't forget to add that you have worked with/assisted and apprenticed with your husband who has been doing this for however long. Every bit of experience, paid or not, will add to your resume. Keep your head up. You can do it! |

I went back to Business School from 1992 to 1995 at Cardinal Stritch College in which I have a AAS in Industrial Tech and a BS in Bus Adm. I survivied the 2001 depression and I'm caught in this one; BUT school has increased my changes of interviews again this time. I'm 55 also, and an Engineering Cost Estimator... manufacturing right now is a hard gig but I see light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck in school. JC |
