I was a Sr. Projects Estimator for Jacobs at BP in Texas City. Appears now 10 weeks later nobody is hiring and the ones that do need help are dragging the hiring out till next year. I might have to relocate to another state, but can't take my family. It's really bad right now. If you have never bottomed out, try it. Your not welcomed at home being the holidays and college tuition isn't in the cards. |

Rusty, What type of estimating were you doing for Jacobs? |

Conceptual to +/-10%. Oil & Gas. Petrochem and Power Plants. I do mechanical, civil. structural, equipment and heavy in I&E. Have had the circus on email for a while. Work from Home jobs that if were true we would all be working from home 10 hours a week. It got worst as now most 99% of plants shut off spending this year. Most are outsourcing engineering / design to Mumbai India. Shell the most, but Jacobs sent 25% on paper and I did put their cost in our estimates, but never spoke or saw an employee from Mumbai. I think it was an invisible effort of showing clients we were saving them money. I have had many positive interviews up to Thanksgiving then seems corporate CEOs shut down as the clients are laying off direct employees as well. It's got crazy. Personally I'm thinking of changing professions. 30 years of temporary is enough. If you have a serious estimating job from 90 to $130K let me know. I
