Melba J. Duncan has authored several books about the executive assistant role and her company in NY, The Duncan Group, (a search firm that exclusively places chiefs of staff and senior level executive and personal assistants) has amazing training seminars for assistants. Their website is www.duncangroupinc.com. I know they have some seminars coming up in the Spring. Katy Gibbs also gives out certification for assistants. Most CEOs aren't looking for someone certified. CEOs are looking for assistants with top skills which include: exceptional communication skills (written/oral); an understanding global business; leadership skills; top technology skills; poise and diplomacy; and an advanced degree. CEOs want assistants who can think beyond day-to-day issues, and understand the issues they face as business leaders. That means, thinking strategically, in order to solve larger and more complex issues. Demonstrating leadership skills, in order to really be a "point person." Staying on top of what's happening in the world, in order to manage the issues your boss is facing. These are just some of the things CEOs look for in top assistants. |

YES THERE IS! If you go to www.officedynamics.com, not only are there EXCELLENT training seminars, but they also offer CONTINUING EDUCATION. It's not just one or two days of talking, it's on going blogs, learning, White papers, video blogs/podcast, books etc.. OFFICE DYNAMICS specializes in STAR Achievement, so you will defiantly get more than what you bargained for. Check them out, trust me, it will help! |

I appreciate any leads to resources for improving my skills. However, I am constantly amused/amazed at sites such as this, which promote achievement of top-level skill sets, but which also contain errors which no good admin would make; E.G: "OFFICE DYNAMICS specializes in STAR Achievement, so you will defiantly get more than what you bargained for." "Defiantly"? I believe "definitely" would be more appropriate. Otherwise, thanks for the information. |
