What is the best training for becoming a hirable facilities manager? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective facilities manager?

You can gain Facility Management Certifications through Internationally recognized groups. Such as "IFMA" ifma.org website. It is alot of work but it gives you credibility such as a accredited degree for that field. IFMA is one of the many Facility organizations out there.

It is very helpful to get any Health and Safety certification such as NEBOSH or IOSH as many FM roles include Health and Safety aspects of the buildings. It is not necessary to have a degree in FM but a related degree such as business will greatly enhance your hire-ability.
