What are the top 3 traits or skills every facilities manager must have to excel?

Can you suggest any tips or insights to develop your facilities manager expertise?

To be brief and to the point:

1. True Mechanical Apptittude to include troubleshooting as well as problem solving skills.

2. Patients is a virtue this to maintain attention to detail.

3. Multi Tasker with strong leadership abilities.

Just came from n interview where the questio was asked and the response was "Hands on experience with attention to detail"

I just came form an interview where the question was asked. The response was "Hands on experience and attention to detail" Detail concerning the physical conditon of the building and grounds. Budget, financial experience but the big factor of the postion is customer service. It is no longer about the buildng alone it is also about the occupants and their concerns.
