FSO's demonstrate a keen ability to analyse risks, apply proper physical and information security countermeasures and protect our Nation's secrets. To do this, the should have the following tools in thier kit:

Know the NISPOM and Executive Orders-What makes up the National Industrial Security Program? How is information classified? How do we protect it? These are questions that are fundamental to every FSO and security specialist.

Build Credibility-Study and take the Industrial Security Professional Certification. Go back to school and get an MBA. You are in the business of selling security. Be on level ground with the managers and executives you advise.

Business saavy-Not only should you know your craft, but be able to relay information that executives and business managers can understand.

Become involved-Join professional organizations like NCMS, ASIS or NMIA. Read intelligence and security magazines, ezines and blogs. Be aware of current events and how they apply to your organization.
