I have a BS in Biochemistry and have worked in the biotech manufacturing sector for the past 10 years. I have an interview for a FSE position in the Sacramento, CA area. Can anyone give me an idea of the starting salary for a Field Service Engineer working with Medical Diagnostic Instruments.

It depends on your experience in manufacturing and the company doing the hiring. If it is directly relatable to the position you are interviewing for and you are still employed I would think that low to mid sixty's would be a good starting point for an entry level position. Field service is one of those careers where salaries vary widely and can range from 50K to over 100K in biotech. You also have to remember that along with your salary there is usually a company car, company paid cellphone and internet service, and some other benefits that you wouldn't have in-house. Good luck!
