I just completed my MBA program last December and no one is talking about salary raise at my job. I am an Account Executive for a major newspaper with almost 5 years experience under my beat and I have gone for several interviews even within my organization still nothing came through, does my MBA really matter, or doesn't an MBA mean an automatic salary raise or promotion? Please help!!! |

Please help!!! I would suggest that you pursue a career outside of your organization to get what you feel you are worth. Unfortunately some organizations, unless they require a higher degree for career advancement, will not bother paying an employee more for doing the same job at a lower rate. Put your newly earned degree and work experience to good use at another company. Figure out your worth by visiting salary sites for your desired position. A position that requires an MBA would be a good start for your job search. But if you really want to stay with your company, you will need to shop around for another position that will offer you much more than what you are currently making. Once you get a hot offer bring it to the attention of your management team. If they truly consider you worth keeping, they should match your offer or offer you some other form of incentive such as stock options, profit sharing, etc. If not, then move on- it should be your wake up call to progress into your true worth. |
