Trying to figure out a career path HUC or Med Assistant?

Hello,I have been researching two careers HUC and Med Assistant.I am having trouble deciding between the two in terms of starting wage,how much i will enjoy the job,and if its easy to cross train in other fields,etc. I like to multi task and be kept busy.I work well with people,and I am drawn more towards working in a hospital or near surgery, instead of a doctors office. I like to be consistently busy throughout the day,if there are any lulls I tend to get bored.
Higher pay matters to me because I have two young children,and I want to make enough to get by so i don't have to go back on welfare.So the faster I can be trained the better.Any suggestions?
P.S I live in Florida and the starting wages for most jobs are usually around 8 dollars an hour or less.
