Here is my history with hha ,
Second place i went to was the avondale group in manhattan they post ads on craigslist claiming to have jobs available immediately in assisted living facilities that's a lie first off they only pay $8.00 and they don't have jobs in assisted living facilities they have jobs out in the field. |

I trained for 3wks with Partners In Care for free. They pay for your physical and back ground check. I make $8.50 an hr. we are suppose to get another raise soon. They have medical benefits, 401k, 1199(Union) etc. Most cases are uptown. So if your looking for something in Brooklyn you will be lucky if you get anything. Hope this helps someone. |

So you want a job that requires no high school diploma or GED but that pays $10 an hour!? that's hilarious!!! HHA jobs normally cater to unskilled workers who have no means. If you want better pay then take out a loan and go to school cause you won't make any money off anything learned in some rinky dink vocational school. |

You DO NOT know the things that we go through on a daily basis. Education has NOTHING to do with it! Most of us want to strive for higher earning postions such as LPN'S OR RN'S and use this as a way to gain experience while making money at the same time. Some of us work hard during the day and go to school at night. I don't think we plan on doing this for the rest of our lives, just something to start us off. And we put up with ALOT. Rude/nasty people, people taking advantage and thinking we're maids, and so on and so forth. You don't know people's situations so please don't be so ignorant. One day when your old, your probrably going to need an "unskilled worker." You have a one world way of thinking. Must suck for you. |

How dare you I guess you have no mother father or family members, and you will probably never get old , disable or sick in fact you are going to live forever , remember while you are laying on that bed needing assistant , please be certain to check the credentials and education of your doctor and all the workers that attend to you ...what a bunch of garbage.
WHAT DOES MONEY OR EDUCATION HAVE TO DO WITH BIRTH ( SPRING ) YOUTH (SUMMER) MIDDLE AGE (FALL) OR WINTER ( DYING)

I agree with you, how dare she look down her nose at hha's we are providing a service that only people with compassion and a love for others will do. In fact, although we are being robbed day and night and being taken advantage of by these unscrupulous employers they themselves will one day need our service, for they are going to suffer for not paying us a fair wage for our hard work. Let me put it straight to CAREGIVER IN SHIRLEY, You would be surprised that a majority of the hha's are more educated than you are. So before you start saying nasty things to people who are doing an honest days work for a lowly day pay check yourself. And you hha's the pay for hha now is $9.00 per hour. Governor Cuomo passed the law that any agency receiving money from the state have to pay their employees $9.00 an hour with insurance and $10.00 without insurance, along with sick days and vacation. You have to know your rights and report these agencies, because they are making enough money off your backs in the first place already, and they don't give a damn how you survive, sometimes I wander what kind of human beings they are, paying people in this day and age $7.25 an hour for the kind of work that hha's does and expect you to be pleased with that. They are not doing any favors to the workers and the coordinators are so nasty sometimes, they don't realize without the aides going out to work that they wont have a job. It is time that people start treating hha's with respect and recognize them for the fantastic job that they are doing, because sometimes they go into places that are so dangerous that is only the grace of God that takes them there safely and allow them to go get back home to their family day in and day out. STOP CRITICIZING HOME HEALTH AIDES AND EMPLOYERS START PAYING THEM A WAGE THAT IS KEEPING WITH WHAT THE STATE SAY. AND FOR THOSE WHO COULD DO EVEN BETTER THAN WHAT THE STATE SAYS PLEASE DO SO. A DOLLAR OR TWO ON THE HHA PAY MIGHT MAKE YOU SLEEP BETTER AT NIGHT. |

I work for Best Care in the Bronx and I'm still getting 7.25! I was told by them that only certain Medicaid cases pay 9.00! Is this true? I'm confused I thought I was going to get 9.00 no matter what! |
