Getting a housekeeping manager job.

How did you get your start doing housekeeping manager work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

I was a housekeeper and was intrested in management because at the time and to this date I felt like I could lead alot better than the current managers that were there so I step up to the plate and someone with a big heart and a good head gave me that chance and I have proven to be a great manager however its sad to say that if I had wanted a job in management before hand I would have never had a chance due to the fact that when I was (20) years old I was convicted of a felony plus Im puerto rican the good thing is that I look white and in Aramark its who you know and who they know which is not rigth and im more than sure you know someone that is probably going through the same thing rigth now so i say to you stay strong keep your head up and always work hard. my biggest problem now is moving up the ladder they will try to put you to sleep bye sending you to an account where there is no chance of moving up the only thing i can say is I refuse to lose so its one against 239,000 I think the odds are in my favor. anyway thanks for taken the time to read and from all that i am take care of your self and your family if you cant be strong for yourself than be strong for them

I was in same position as you are now a 7 years ago .I start as room attendant working hard doing extra work and allows helping my boss doing her job.I was working 4years in hotel and when opportunity came for hsk supervisor she bring her friend .I Was not happy I thought it will be me .I start looking for job in other hotel and I got position as room checker and cleaning rooms .Never stay in one place if you looking for better position .After a 6month I start looking for job.I got hsk supervisor full time.The company provide training and I became certificated as Manager. 2 years ago It came opportunity as Executive Housekeeper .Iam HAPPY now,just do not give up.Working hard and like what are you doing opportunity will came
