* IT Auditing, per se
* Computer Assisted-Audit techniques such as ACL, Idea
* IT Infrastructure review

Exposure to various types of IT audit engagements help a lot in developing ones career in this field.

From my 5 yrs in the industry, In my view the following are the biggest Skills / requirements for an IT auditor !

1. Certification - CISA/CISSP
2. Understand Technology and Talk the Techie Jargon
3. Communication Skills

The ISACA and IIA Mags. are a great way to keep up to date with technology.

Techinical Experience with systems being audited

Experienced understanding in different IT Audit methodologies and understanding the role of the auditor during the audit

Once enough expereience is obtained, getting a CISSP, CISA, CISM certification (any or all)

If you're bouncing back from financial to IT Audit work, IIA CIA certification may help as well (not necessary if it's strictly IT)
