What is the best training for becoming a hirable it director? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective it director?

What do non-traditional career paths look like?

In my opinion having been in IT for the last 15 years, the best training is hands-on training coupled with a degree in the area that you a director or certification.

I also think a certification in Project Management is necessary for anyone running projects and managing a group.
