How did you get your start doing IT Specialist work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

I am also very interested in which IT associate degree programs lead to a real job in the field without prior experience. |

Apply through USA Jobs for Federal government in the IT Field [series 2210] or in the Computer Scientist [series 1550] if you qualify. Look on the OPM website for the definitions of the various series. There are also a wealth of intern and starting positions in the government. Check the DAU website for DAWIA Internships. |

If you want to make big bucks as an IT specialist go into healthcare IT. Get certified in any of the Epic software applications and you could easily bump your hourly from $55 to $75 an hour. After a couple of years with that certification the sky is the limit. (www.epic.com) If you're Epic certified, working on you're certification, have Go-Live experience, please send me your resume. I work for a healthcare IT firm and we could get you placed ASAP. If you're working on your certification we can place you as well. Email me your resume: VictoriaC@handaconsulting.com

I would love to know how I can get information on the deployment to overseas. I have a B.S degree in Database Information and a military background in Communications and Satalite. I am needing to gain experience in my new career field. Would love the opportunity to serve again. Studying now for A+, N+ and MCTP. Please forward information to crjohnson@nc.rr.com |

I've been trying to obtain a position in IT for the past year. I have an AA in IT/Networking. I've been on at least 12 interviews and I've never received an offer. All of the interviews seem to go well, but no call back. What am I missing, or can I do differently. I already have an A+ and Network + certification, and know the information in and out. |
