Does Sponsoring a Life & Health Agent put me in jeopardy?

I've got a friend that has recently passed his L&H exam by the state. He has asked me to sponsor him. If he makes an error or mistakes, can this come back to bite me? What do I stand to lose? Just wondering if I should do it & how it puts my license on the line.
