Before you submit your application or make your choice you may want to consider the side of Midland National they don't publish on their web site. Midland National Life has a history of preying on senior citizens, union busting, and acting vindictively towards valued associates that question Midland's practices. Balance their offer of reasonable pay and a potential future extremely small ownership stake with how working for a company with Midland's reputation may weigh on your conscience. In fact, if Christian values are important to you, consider 1 Timothy 6:10
You may be surprised that you haven't heard any of this before but, unless it becomes a major news event, even most Midland employees aren't aware of Midland's legal problems or questionable practices. It's important to feel good about what you do for a living and how it affects others. You must decide if you want to support companies like Midland or work someplace that has a different reputation. Maybe Sir Edmund Burke said it best

The Minnesota Attorney General's Office filed suit against Midland National Life Insurance Company, Sioux Falls, South Dakota in November, 2007 alleging the company was making inappropriate long-term annuity sales to seniors. That action, involving Midland National’s insurance sales practices, is similar to class action lawsuits filed against them in California, Hawaii, and Rhode Island. Allegations that these sales practices go back to the late 1980s have also been raised in a law suit filed in South Dakota by a former leading life insurance general agent for the company. |
