I'm right about to take a job in Iraq or Afghanistan as a CI support specialist or something similar. What kind of salary should I expect/shoot for?

My experience is about 8yrs USMC, 4-5years CI/Humint, two deployments, about 70 real world interrogations, a bunch of reports, lots of source ops experience, etc etc. (S) clearance

Thanks

Assuming you are taking the position via a defense contractor instead of as a federal employee, you can expect between $140K and $180K. The first $88K is tax free since it is earned overseas. Also, your monthly salary will not be for instance $12K a month if you sign a year contract for $144K. To get the whole 144K you would have to stay the whole year. So your monthly will be less and then you'll get a larger bonus at the end to take you to your total.

In June 1995, I retired from the U.S. Army with 30 years as a CW4 Counterintelligence (CI) Warrant Officer. I graduated from the University of the State of New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Asian Studies. I graduated from the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA as a Japanese Linguist. I served as both CI Reports Officer and Reports Officer for the 500th Military Intelligence (MI) Brigade, Tokyo, Japan. I was an Instructor at the US Army Intelligence Center & School (USAICS), Fort Huachuca, AZ where I taught Investigations & Report Writing, Surveillance, and Polygraph classes. I was also Case Control Officer for the CI Detachment, 500th MI Group, Tokyo, Japan. While in Army Special Operations, I was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group, Ft Lewis, WA and the 160th Aviation Battalion, Ft Campbell, KY. I am a school-trained typist and have many years of experience working with Microsoft Windows based computers and word processing equipment. Throughout my army career, every job that I worked in required a Top Secret security clearance. What are my chances at landing a CI related job in Afghanistan or Iraq although my clearance has lapsed?
