It really depends on many factors - there is no standard. Those gov't intel analysts in support of ongoing military ops abroad work to mission completion. Most contractors supporting those same ops are funded for more than one year full time equivalent so are also likely working beyond 40. Others... are strictly 40. If you're a senior intel person in the gov't say working in the Pentagon - you're also likely putting in beyond 40.
