I recently began working as a 1st year analyst at a good middle-market bank. However, I am very very interested in making a move to a bulge firm, but I have no idea how to go about recruiting since I already have a job.

Can someone (anyone!?!?) please shed some light on how to go about submitting resumes, interviewing, and ultimately changing firms laterally.

I know this is a pretty common procedure but how and when do you go about doing this. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

1. reach out to friends already working in the depts of the banks you're interested in
2. have coffee chats with those friends, and ask who else you can speak with
3. when you meet a decision maker, let them know you're interested and how to best proceed with the application process.

the best way:

reaching out to friends/alumni and network to get an idea of which positions are available. If position opens, get them to send your CV to HR department and the team head or staffer.

tell your friends you are looking - if they get called by headhunter they will mention your name as another guy ther should talk to

The other way:

Call headhunters and tell them you are looking, apply on websites

Note: this may take a while but be persistent. Try to get best deal exposure and you should be good candidate for the switch. Also have a good story about why the switch!
