Hiking boots for janitor/custodian work?

I found some really comfortable hiking boots on sale but they are for hiking. They are the Caterpillar Alaska boots form Sears. Do you think they are good for janitor work? Do I really need a work boot? I'm not sure if they are slip resistant.
