Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most journalist opportunities?

Journalism is probably one of the worst careers a young person could consider. The rise of large corporations that control the media has meant a decline in jobs as the corporations have no sense of responsibility to the reader. The bottom line is the bottom line, and in newsrooms across the nation, jobs are being slashed to increase profits as advertising revenues decline. A closer look at the moaning and groaning by media companies reveals that they are not losing money but simply not meeting the high expectations they have set for profits. If they squeeze 25 percent this year and fail to mee that next year, the paper is in dire trouble.

The best journalism jobs are now in PR, where companies carefully craft their half truths and feed them to the public via media outlets that no longer have the time, staff or will to investigate and tell the truth.

What if you hate to write about stupid things trying to make them look great so the companies can get some publicity on the media for free? what if you don't like the fake atmosphere of a PR agency or department but love to write stories, and you want to make a living of it?
Please advice me

I think journalist should be given more money than $25,000.00 a yr., these people has a lot more conrtol that they are geting credit for. I think their salerey should start at $100,000.00 and up. No Im not a journalist Im just someone that notice alot of things that are wrong and unfair in this world we live in.

Thanks!
