I'm planning on starting the LPN program at my community college in the Fall. However, it doesn't have an externship in the program. Pardon my ignorance, but should a good LPN curriculum have an externship? If so, should I avoid one that doesn't offer one? Again, sorry if this question seems ignorant, I'm hoping I can learn for your collective experience!

In nursing school you do not do externships. You will attend clinicals at different types of facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes as part of your curriculum while in school. You will be under the supervision of either an RN or LPN instructor with other classmates. Your state board of nursing requires you to have a certain number of clinical hours when you graduate, so every school must have at least the minimum.
