I was employed 9 years ago as a laboratory assistant in a contract position for one year. Should I still pursue current laboratory positions?

yes,I would encourage you to stick with your position. but try to get more education to persue AA in lab tech degree so You will be MLT not assistance may be some on help you. as lab tech.
