There is a local surveying company that may be coming up for sale soon and I have no idea what it is worth. He has always just had a 3-4 man crew with 38 years of experience. The office is worth about $80k, but what is the price of the notes and goodwill? Do I go buy what he is currently making in the practice? The equipment is very dated and is practically worthless and he will be taking what has value. Thanks for your reponses.

I sold a civil engineering and land surveying firm in California for 50% of a years gross income. That covers the "blue sky" or name worthiness. Outstanding income and debt has to be addressed separately.
