How should one deal with a persistantly difficult person?

I have a difficult person who is regularly disruptive - what are the best stratergies for dealing with people like that?

Violence in the library is often the best solution. I advocate finding the biggest book you can and beat him/her into submission. HTH

Recommend killing them with kindness, if you can stomach it. Disruptive people thrive on the irritation they cause other people. besides which, it's fun to thwart them and to just be as darn helpful and *perky* as you can stand, especially if they are in a foul mood... of course you should "call" them on any bad language, but again in perky mode, "now, now, you mustn't use language like that in the LIBRARY! Think of the CHILDREN! SHHHHH!" *me grins*
