Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

It depends a great deal on where you live. I have recruited LCSWs for a large managed care company in the past. I can tell you with 3+ years of post masters experience the salary ran about $55-65K.

I've never seen anything close to $80K, but I'm not in touch with the LCSW market in Sacramento.

In the south, Tennessee and Georgia,
an LCSW and 15+ years of experience
yields a salary of about 35,000 to 46,000 and jobs are few and far between.

I've found that working in a school or hospital pays the most. 60K for schools with an MSW. 70K as an LCSW at a hospital. These jobs are in California wher cost of living is also more.
