Hi All. I have a question for you. I have a PhD in linguistics. I obtained it in Europe and I have a degree equivalence document that proves that my doctorate is the equivalent of a doctorate in the US. Now I live in Sherman Oaks, California. I've been job hunting for one year without any luck. Where should I look? Employment agencies say that I'm overqualified and that they don't have positions for people with my education. Then, there are also employers who prefer to hire someone with no education, someone who claims to speak another language but they can say just a couple of words. Never mind writing in that language. No wonder wherever I go in California, I see horrible translations in Spanish. What really annoys me is that my education and the fact that I'm extremely fluent in three languages is underestimated. Where do you think I should look? |

you could apply to: Defense language institute in Monterey California. They are always hiring and "de-hiring".
