"Every" locksmith is kind of vague, as many locksmiths specialize in particular areas, while there are others who know a little of everything. As far as in general- hardware installation, keyblank recognition and duplication, and customer service skills are important. Areas to specialize in that may give you more of an edge when seeking employment include safe manipulation, non destructive entry into many kinds of locks, cctv and wiring knowledge, automotive locksmithing, advanced door hardware (such as emergency hardware, door closers, pivots, etc.), access control, and knowledge of high security locks. There are other areas, but those are the ones that come to mind. |
