There are always opportunities to learn and advance, if you advance the only place to move is higher up with others learning from you and your knowledge is important in giving the correct guidance to your trainees, instore employees as well as store Loss prevention trainees.
Loss Prevention is like a chess game and you must be and alert to every detail of your surroundings making an apprehension or not and to the safety of everyone.
So you need to be up on any of the new techniques used by shoplifters, they are always improving and so should "YOU".

It is very challenging, there is always so much to learn and when you think you've learned all the tricks a new one arises, so the challenge is always keeping one step ahead, being prepared.

What I dislike most: Well so many times I have apprehended subjects and the first thing they say to me is " you hate me because I am a thief, you think I am garbage".
Well, I dislike hearing this because the truth is I don't judge anyones choice of career. Lets be honest if someone is a thief this is the career they choose, if it wasn't for their choice of career, I wouldn't have a job, right?.
On the other hand when I go shopping I hate the fact that I must pay higher prices because of people choice to steal for a living or boredom whatever the excuse is.
I dislike when children are used as a reason to steal, or blamed for the theft.
I also have seen a child trained by a parent to steal and am disgusted by this.
Still the fact remains I have always caught my subject and the only thing I know for sure is, I was better at my job than they were at theirs and I feel everyone should give 500% to their job, they should be proud of what they do.
I love loss prevention so I am observant of my surroundings and accept it as something I appreciate and love to be part of.
So I have a very positive record in what I do.
As for the people I have apprehended they were too self absorbed and gave only 50%, they lost, checkmate.
