Went to three imaging centers and one hospital to check the outlook for MRI technologist for Arkansas. It looks like slim pickings one center cut back to part time another is closing their doors due to not having enough exams. It seems like the Obamacare is not going to cover MRI exams and the instability of these owners not known what is going to happen is making the market tight. The reimbursement for exams under medicare and medicaid will not give the owners any profit margin to make it worth keeping the doors open. It affected country's like England and France to have a 6 to 12 month waiting list that is why the individuals that can afford it come here to have PET's MRI's. Another problem is the schools are kicking so many student the supply and demand is off balance meaning that the wages and expected living conditions are decreasing as we speak. So if you are thinking about becoming a Radiologic Technologist, MRI Cat Scan please do your home work so you don't waste your time and money. Please let me know if you find any openings in Arkansas.

This is so depressing... somebody need to regulate the amount of students that schools are putting out. The hospital have tons of rad tech students that are willing to do free work for the radiology department so the hospital don't even need to hired full time techs. Some of the students are even working harder and doing more work then actual techs. And websites like bls.gov and other government websites need to update their statistics; giving out false information saying that jobs like mri, ct, nuclear med and rad therapy are in demand when they aren't.
