Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

The pay varies from state to state for MRI technologist. I have worked in various states and have found the hourly wage to be from $22 - $36 per hour. However, if you are an experienced MRI technologist and can work as a traveling tech, you can make considerably more in upwards of $60 plus per hour.

Hello all,

I'm also interested in MRI but Medical Imaging Equipment Technology. Is that the same as MRI , if not is the pay better, is it more complex or easier than MRI and is the career outlook better than MRI? All responses are much appeciated. TIA (thx in advance)!

i am interested in career as an radiologic or mri technologist. i was told a hospital based program of study is the best, why? if so how to i find out where these programs/hospitals are and what the requirements are. do you have to take a test to become a mri technologist? is there licensing involved? how long is the course of study? and most importantly what is the cost? thank you all in advance.

A hospital-based program of study is a good way to go because of the easy accessibility of technology and close proximity of clinical setting. The college I went to is actually built right onto a hospital, and a lot of the techs I have worked with have been teachers or affiliated with the college in some way. That means they are knowledgable, patient, experienced, and enjoy education. These are the kind of people you will enjoy learning from. You can get onto the JCERT website and it will tell you what facilities are accredited. You only want to pursue these institutions. You can get a 2 year or four year degree, depending on your choosing. You will need to have a decent GPA from high school or good grades in college classes so far. They usually want at least a 2.0 or 2.5 GPA to be accepted. After you complete your curriculum and your clinical requirements and competencies, you will need to apply for certification. This might cost you about $200 to take this exam. It will be challenging but after you pass you can pretty much work where ever you like. Good luck to you!
