What are the top 3 traits or skills every Mail Clerk must have to excel?

I'm not exactly sure but would like to find out for a friend of mine, who's learning disabled and has been told that he needs to "update" his skills, but has not been told how he can go about doing this. Since most of the positions that I've seen ask for experience with various kinds of mail methods used at UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS and a few others, I'd start from there and find out what to do next.
