Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing? Where are the jobs? Which places have the most maintenance mechanic opportunities? |

I agree with you 110%. I am a ROOKIE who has a vocational degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology and I can't get a job out here in Texas to save my life!! I have been here three months and I will say that there are probally more openings that come up out here for Industrial Maintenance then any where in the country right now. The people who already got there foot in the door has the advantage. They are able to jump from job to job because the employers only want experience right now. I even called a staffing recruiter to verify how I felt about this and he proved me right. He told me that he is only looking for guys who are ALREADY working or looking for a better job. So guys like me who are waiting to get in and have even invested time, money, and effort into a vocational education are SCREWED. Even being an 8 yr. military veteran does not help. |
