go to barnes and nobles and get the 3rd edition stm. and purpulsion. studt hard and get your 3rd grade engineer certificate for your state. their is no maint. techs anywhere that would be more qualified then you. a 3rd grade engineer makes at least 2-5 dollars more a hour.

I think it largly depends on your particular field... Maintenance Mechanic in general could be land based or off shore on a rig for instance where you would sit for your Chief Engineers license.

Off shore its not un common to be in the 120,000 - 150,000 range.
