How did you get your start doing manufacturing technician work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

I worked as a manufacturing/research technician for over 20 years. Most technicians are from the plant force itself, which means you take a lower paying job to get your foot in the door, then when the opportunity strikes nail it! Some are hired off the street. Whatever way you find that opportunity here are a few tricks of the trade that might help you. Get all the math skills you can find, computer courses, excel, word, powerpoint, number skills, attention to details, good communication verbal and written, learn how to deal with people. Must meet critical demands, your main focus has to be safety and quality! You have to be dedicated and work with all types of people.
