One of the key things that Specialists need to illustrate is their mastering of some key core competencies. All their competition likely has Marketing degrees and some experience. What is critical is some of the soft skills needed in these roles since they so often interact with cross-functional teams and come across so many types of people. So much of hiring is based on personality and interpersonal skills so learn how to promote those core competencies, including: Effective Communication; Dealing with Difficult People; Dealing with Ambiguity; Influencing Others.
You can present those skills as PARs - Problem, Actions, Results: A Problem you encountered, Action you took to resolve, and Result from the action you took.
