I've been an MCO for almost 15 years now. I actually started in a TV/Video production program at the local community college. I started working at one of the local stations as a part-time production asst., basically, I just worked the news casts. I hated it. Saw MC and new that was what I wanted to do. Took about 8 months to get in and I never looked back. If you want to get started with practically no experience, I suggest looking into one of the smaller markets. You also will get better chances on cross training.

My brother started out as a MCO and now is a full time freeelance tape operator for sporting events. One of his Producer's has let me tag along with him in the production truck while he works and I absolutely love the job. I don't have any direct experience but have worked with monitors/camera's/tape opator/playback for retail loss prevention for the last 8 yrs. (not exactly direct experience although there are so correlations) Where do I begin to search for an entry level position in this field. I would even consider an apprenticeship or just starting working at a small tv station and then trying to get promoted from within.
