What do you enjoy most about mechanical engineer work? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance? What keeps you at your job? |

I like to design things. It's like figuring out a puzzle. Funny how in college we think the smartest guy(person) in class will be most desired by employers. My experience has been that management wants you to lead projects and manage people. I work best in team environments, but I really want to put together the next "puzzle." I have no problem directing junior engineers, but the philosophy where ever I work is that "if you're not a project lead, you've taken a step back." |

I'm a Mechanical Design Engineer. I love the act of creation - I think of things that never were and figure out how to make them. It's art - no doubt. It can be very challenging, it can provide you with opportunities to learn and grow, but, if you don't manage your career, it can be unsatisfying, without any learning or growth. It's like life, really. |
