I am thinking about becoming a medical administrative assistant but can someone tell me more about what they do? I know that they usually at the front desk of the doctor's office, greeting patients as they come in and getting their paperwork ready, but that's all I know. Can someone please fill me in? I am looking into a program at my local community college and I noticed that I'd have to take an accounting class, do you have to do a lot of accounting in this line of work? Any tiny bit of information would be a tremendous help

Alot of coding and billing, mainly administrative/reception-esque work, alot of data-input and filing and memorization of codes and numbers

I am seriously thinking of going to school for medical office assistant. I'm in my 50's and have always done office type work or retail and I hate working in retail! What is a day like for those of you who do this?I've checked with a local temp agency and they do place people with that. I thought about coding and the person said there is not such a demand for that, so....

Plus I'd have the option to work for a dental or medical office.
