has anyone taken the cpar test by hfma to be certified as a patient account representative?

Ive heard that students at a community college for medical billing are being told to take the cpar test. I looked at hfma's site and they only give vague information and you can't get in touch with the contact person. So I wanted to know why students are being advised to take the test, does this credential help get a job? and I would like to know the format of the test and how you need to study for it.
