i want to get into the medicl billing and/or transcriptionist field.
Basically i spoke with someone whom is getting into the field. she said her cousin owns a company. her cousin is training her ( approx 3 weeks of training) and from there she will do med transcrp. from home making anywhere from 100.00-500.00 a DAY! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WANT TO DO THE SAME.how can i get into this field, what is the easiest way to do so. my friend isent going to school or taking online classes, anyone have any advice for me?

I have several questions:
1)what is the difference between med billing and med transcpt.?
2)do you have to go through a school or online courses to train?
3)will companies hire you and train you themselves?
4)do you have to be certified to work at home?

If it sounds to good to be true, IT IS! They are blowing smoke up your rear-end.
Trust me. Stay away from them.

1) medical transcription is usually typing voice recorded dictation into written dictation.

medical coding is reading and transforming the dictation into diagnosis and procedure codes for insurance companies

medical billing is the follow up of claims with insurance companies

2)most people do have to do training for any of the above, in the past you used to be able to just train on the job, but these have become "IT" careers, so there are an over abundance of candidates.

3)some might, usually a smaller company or clinic, but most won't

4) i am not sure about transcription, but with coding/billing, yes and have to have 2-3 years experience.

but i would agree with Mike, make sure you really research this company. there are a lot scams out there.

also, i think medical transcription is kinda a dying career, with voice recognized software, most physicians just dictate themselves without the need of a transcriptionist.

but like i said, there are VERY few people/companies that will train you for 3 weeks, let you work at home and pay you $100-150 a day......just beware

Medical Billing and coding play a vital role in the field of medicine. And it is a lucrative career option. The demand for medical billing and coding specialists is high now.But <a href="www.medical-billing.com/">Medical transcriptionist</a> listen to doctors, and other health care professionals, dictations, and type them into documents that are then put into patients' files. They also translate medical terms and abbreviations..
