new grad trying to break in...

I just graduated from Glendale College in medical billing and coding with honors. I know the job market is tough. I have applied to medical records clerk, entry level medical biller, etc. Nothing. I was considering volunteering at a local hospital to get my foot in the door. Would that get me somewhere? I also have been on disability the past few years and am working on getting off it . I'm working with the dept of vocational rehab and a job developer to get back to work. They were talking about paying an employer to give me on the job training with the option to hire. Some agency they work with helps with this. I font know what to do. Tired of being in this slump.
