I live in chicago and have recently completed a medical billing and coding course. I am trying to get my foot in the door. Any advice.

First congrats on school. I graduated in Jan., then took my certification test. Don't give up, I finally found a job this month. I took a pt position as a medical biller and once I started was offered FT after my probation period.I sent app after app out to any medical position. Alot of my classmates decided to go thru the back door and found employment as a customer service rep, patient representatives in hospitals, even front desk positions at dr's offices and hospital satalite offices. This way your foot is in the door and you can work your way to the position you want. On a whole its taken most of my classmates and myself 2-5 months to find something. Volunteer work in a billing office at a hospital is another suggestion that was given to me. Good luck and keep sending those resumes out. Temp ageny is a good way also.
