Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

I am interested in this field. I am already an LPN and have an extensive background in the medical field. My question is, can you really make good money in this field working from home or is this another one of those work from home scams? And what kind of education do you need? can you make money with just the certificate that most of these at home courses offer?

You should make about $10-15 dollars an hour. But if you become certified you'll make more.

it's mean i am never ganna get any experince if they stop taking entry leval people. don't you ppl think they should give us chance those who don't have any experince? so we can show them that we learnt something too for getting good job.

Hi,
I would have to say find out what there are more jobs for and if you are just getting into the field how hard is it to get a job in that field. I have both and in my area in Maine I am having a very hard time finding a job. I am seriously thinking about working at home, but I have to do some research on it first. Let me know what you find out and good luck.

I recently completed the course at NTC for Medical Coding and Insurance. I know that the salary does fluctuate depending on the facility. The problem I am having is finding a job in this field. Bemidji does not have a lot to offer for this field. Good luck to you with school. IF you have Ila as an instructor you will like her. She is very easy going.

The best thing for all of you who are interested in the billing/collection field is to volunteer at a dr's office for a few weeks with a medical biller. You need to have the "detective" instinct, work well unsupervised, plus the insurance companies are changing their reimbursement tactics almost on a daily basis. You need to stay one step ahead of the game.
This is NOT an easy field if you want to be good at it! Learn, learn, learn!

Beth, I am from Brooklyn also, but every time I go for a medical billing job they always offer me a lab job. They always reccomend a lab job. So I have been in the lab job for a while in Cyto/Micro. But at the same time I want to do billing and coding. And it has been a long time for me. Do you have any solutions?

My advice to you is to go straight to the top and do not stop. And do not let anyone stop you. In NewYork you know, people are funny. But you can get great pay it's who you know not what you know.

I have applied for LIJ and they did not pick me reason: They pick someone with a little more exp. than I. But just a couple of months later they picked a girl with NO exp. at all she got in. The only way that I got that interview is because I knew someone. Not because i knew my job. It's a doggy dog world.
Everywhere I go they always tell me it's not what you know it's who you know.

Guys remember I told you every time I go for a Medical Billing Job they always give me a lab job in the Cyto / Micro dpt. But since now I have been in there for so long so now when I go to apply on the sneak tip they tell me you have to know someone still. So this puts me back in the same position.

Yes I agree with you but, they are maybe the employers are afraid of taking us because they feel that we might mess up there billing and they will not get paid. But where do we start if we want exp. How do we get exp. I need the exp right now as I speak.

Yes you will find a job faster in process claims then medical billing it's easy just inputting deomgraphics and codes that are already there. Isn't fun. I enjoy that a whole lot also. I think Metroplus is hiring in Manhattan for process claims you can try.

You just stated that I should make about 10-15$ but that's not in Manhattan you mean I have to come out there where you are to make that money. In Queens they are offering 8.50 per hour. I cannot pay my bills off of that.

To Michigan
