Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

i did my medical billing and coding but whenever i see the job ad with saying we need A+ experince that make me think of not getting into this job because if i go to interview and they will ask me about my experince what will i say to them........no idea

it's mean i am never ganna get any experince if they stop taking entry leval people. don't you ppl think they should give us chance those who don't have any experince? so we can show them that we learnt something too for getting good job.

Hi,
I would have to say find out what there are more jobs for and if you are just getting into the field how hard is it to get a job in that field. I have both and in my area in Maine I am having a very hard time finding a job. I am seriously thinking about working at home, but I have to do some research on it first. Let me know what you find out and good luck.

I recently completed the course at NTC for Medical Coding and Insurance. I know that the salary does fluctuate depending on the facility. The problem I am having is finding a job in this field. Bemidji does not have a lot to offer for this field. Good luck to you with school. IF you have Ila as an instructor you will like her. She is very easy going.

Beth, I am from Brooklyn also, but every time I go for a medical billing job they always offer me a lab job. They always reccomend a lab job. So I have been in the lab job for a while in Cyto/Micro. But at the same time I want to do billing and coding. And it has been a long time for me. Do you have any solutions?

My advice to you is to go straight to the top and do not stop. And do not let anyone stop you. In NewYork you know, people are funny. But you can get great pay it's who you know not what you know.

I have applied for LIJ and they did not pick me reason: They pick someone with a little more exp. than I. But just a couple of months later they picked a girl with NO exp. at all she got in. The only way that I got that interview is because I knew someone. Not because i knew my job. It's a doggy dog world.
Everywhere I go they always tell me it's not what you know it's who you know.

Guys remember I told you every time I go for a Medical Billing Job they always give me a lab job in the Cyto / Micro dpt. But since now I have been in there for so long so now when I go to apply on the sneak tip they tell me you have to know someone still. So this puts me back in the same position.

Yes I agree with you but, they are maybe the employers are afraid of taking us because they feel that we might mess up there billing and they will not get paid. But where do we start if we want exp. How do we get exp. I need the exp right now as I speak.

Yes you will find a job faster in process claims then medical billing it's easy just inputting deomgraphics and codes that are already there. Isn't fun. I enjoy that a whole lot also. I think Metroplus is hiring in Manhattan for process claims you can try.

I went to Everest College for medical insurance billing and coding in Missouri and I graduated December 12, 2007. Now I am just finding out that I can become certfied in missouri, but I don't have a practice test because I heard the test is hard and I have not been able to find a job in my field. The school I attended, I had only recieve a diploma. But is it possible to get a medical insurance billing and coding job with just the diploma. I need some helpful information.

yes, it is possible, but certification in the specialty of your choice--billing or coding would help put you a 'step above' the rest!!

Hi. I am so sad. I did College fr Medical Billing and coding, I am national certified as Medical Insurance and Coding Specialist, I was graduated with honors with a GPA 4.0 and nothing of this helps me to get a job. I spended $15.000DLS in this career and no1 gives me the chance to start...All the doors are closed to me. All medical offices requires experience, I have some medical and Insurance experience + a year of college (training) as a medical coding and billing...I am so sad, and I feel that I took the wrong decision when I decided to do College, total, I can get the same salary without doing college, for example: Progressive pays $18.00 per hour in the Customer Service position.......I feel sad and frustrated, I want to get the opportunity to work in what I like.

Bonus: When I started College I did not Know English, after that I learned something. I tryed to do my best, did it worth?????

Hey,
Don't give up it will come. I haave had my certificate since February 2007, and for the past 3 months I have been doing nothing but going to doctors offices personally and just asking if they had any positions available at the front desk or anything that I would qualify to do in there office. Finally I got a phone call last Friday from a very well known doctors office asking me if I would like the position I interviewed for and I started today. So if you are not a quitter you will get it. It just takes perservarance. Don't give up. OK?
