Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

I am interested in this field. I am already an LPN and have an extensive background in the medical field. My question is, can you really make good money in this field working from home or is this another one of those work from home scams? And what kind of education do you need? can you make money with just the certificate that most of these at home courses offer? |

I start school in Jan. for this field. I want to know how much do you make starting off with a certificate. |

You should make about $10-15 dollars an hour. But if you become certified you'll make more. |

I know that the salary does fluctuate depending on the facility. The problem I am having is finding a job in this field. Bemidji does not have a lot to offer for this field. Good luck to you with school. IF you have Ila as an instructor you will like her. She is very easy going. |

When I was in school about a year and a half ago the pay was between 12 and 14 dollars an hour, it probably varies from state tp state. |

The best thing for all of you who are interested in the billing/collection field is to volunteer at a dr's office for a few weeks with a medical biller. You need to have the "detective" instinct, work well unsupervised, plus the insurance companies are changing their reimbursement tactics almost on a daily basis. You need to stay one step ahead of the game.

Beth, I am from Brooklyn also, but every time I go for a medical billing job they always offer me a lab job. They always reccomend a lab job. So I have been in the lab job for a while in Cyto/Micro. But at the same time I want to do billing and coding. And it has been a long time for me. Do you have any solutions? |

STARMOON31 in Bronx, New York said: When you first started was it easy to get a job in that field? My advice to you is to go straight to the top and do not stop. And do not let anyone stop you. In NewYork you know, people are funny. But you can get great pay it's who you know not what you know. I have applied for LIJ and they did not pick me reason: They pick someone with a little more exp. than I. But just a couple of months later they picked a girl with NO exp. at all she got in. The only way that I got that interview is because I knew someone. Not because i knew my job. It's a doggy dog world.

But where do we start if we want exp. How do we get exp. I need the exp right now as I speak. |

Yes you will find a job faster in process claims then medical billing it's easy just inputting deomgraphics and codes that are already there. Isn't fun. I enjoy that a whole lot also. I think Metroplus is hiring in Manhattan for process claims you can try. |
