There are many quality suppliers of home medical equipment such as vertical platform lifts on the internet. Do you want to open up a site like this or do you want to work for a company that sells home medical equipment? |

I too have been interested in seeking a career in medical equipment sales. I do not have any sales experience though, but have a spouse who does a tremendous job selling for her company (non-medical) and I have learned from her discipline. My family has a medical background as my mother has worked in hospitals and for private practices. So I have a basic knowledge of the medical community. Thanks to a rough economy, I was recently let go as a television broadcast meteorologist. I am a self-starter and highly motivated. I am willing to travel and trying to work my way into a company who will just give me a chance. |

Checkout Texan Medical Supplies in Houston, they are looking for cutting edge sales guys in this economy. I know that even hospitals have seen a reduction in surgery from the older demographic. They believe the cause is the elderly waiting for surgery until they are sure of the state of their retirement accounts. David

I'm so glad I found this thread... Any advice on breaking into the Medical Equipment Sales field would be appreciated. I have a successful background in Sales, but being a new father has made me hungrier than ever, and I want a job where I can earn enough to allow my wife to stay at home. Willing to travel and burn the midnight oil to get jobs done to completion. Thanks! |

I am called upon to enter the medical device industry! I am a seasoned consulting professional with my current industry being healthcare. I have sales experience ranging from recruiting to wholesale foods to insurance plans. In 2006 I received a total hip replacement from a long ago automobile accident at the tender age of 31 yrs. I can not begin to express how this has changed my life, and I am now inspired and poised to begin a fruitful and rewarding career in the medical device industry! I am highly flexible in my personal life and ready to commit 150% to this profession. Could you provide any insight on how to "crack the code" on getting into this industry? And also any opportunities or contacts you may be aware of. Thanks so much!! |

I would also like to get into Medical Equipment Sales. I have been researching it online and my first step will be to take the RMSR Cert Course. Have any of you taken this course? Do many companies require this? I have been in Outside sales for the past 5 years. Im a single mother of a 2year old boy and like any mother would like to give him the world. Needless to say its time for a career change. I feel that Medical equipment sales would be the ideal choice. Any advice would be helpful in making the transition into this exciting new field. |

I am interested in switching careers and have been wondering what it takes to get "my foot in the door" with medical equipment sales. I have almost 10 years of business-to-business sales, marketing & public relations experience. This has mainly been in the field of professional sports & I would like to see what other opportunities are available. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Working with people, such as Customer Service, and years of sales experience inspires me to want to sell medical equipment. My Grandmother, who was a Microbiologist for more than 30 yrs, inspires me too. She is at home under certain circumstances, and my mother and I, along with hospice, take care of her. My passion is wanting to make a persons life as comfortable as it can be. Especially when times are hard. I am a single mother of a 3 yr old boy, who is my world. And passionate about my grandmother and her present comfort. We put aside for her. Only to be gracious at the fact that she has saved lives during her career. It gives me happiness, and I am sure I would want to continue this for others of need. And use my skills in an area that will benefit my heart as well. Medical Equipment Sales is Perfect For this position. Any advice on obtaining this career, I am willing to do whatever steps it takes to get my foot in the door. Amanda |

After college I interviewed with this medical device company and did not get the job due to lack of experience. Starting from scratch is the best place because it gives you the oppertunity to show your ambition, tenacity, and goal setting. To get your foot in the door your need 4 things. 1) a degree 2) A connection to a Sr. Rep who knows the hiring person. 3) Respectable, sucessful sales experience, and 4) Operating room experience which everyone seems to leaves out. As you gain these items its important that you update the Sr. Rep of your progress b/c by the time you get towards the end of your ST program they will bring you aboard. In my case it was before I could finished my last two month of my ST program. Probably because the timing was right and because they saw I was doing everything possible to reach my goal 1) Check 2) A connection to a SR. Rep.
3) Respectable sales experience - You need B2B (business to business) experience. As I once read these forums you will find that MDReps. often come from copier sales. I chose to become a Xerox sales agent first in order to get their infamous Business Selling Skills Training which is known as some of the best trainging and of course the experience. I had a total of 1 1/2 years selling exp. 4) OR experince.

Why would you direct someone to a site that does not even exist? There are no short cuts to getting into medical sales. Understand what you bring to the table versus what other choices a company has. Talk to REAL people with REAL experience. Join Linkedin and connect with groups about the topic. Reach out to Elizabeth Danford, she can let you know your chances and best direction. |
