yes, one has to have basic knowledge of medical terminaology. Also, one has to be certified in the field. There are schools for medical assisting and towoard the end of the program they will put you in an externship in a doctors office to utilize your skills. I was fortunate because the doctors office I did my externship in hired me, and I have been there for three years now. what also helped is when doing the externship never sit and be idle. Stay busy and find things to do. No one will ever hire you if all you do is sit and do nothing.
