coder job- frustration with searches

I am RHIT and CCS certified with over 5 years of experience. I live in a rural area and there are no job opportunities in my area. I am very frustated with advertisements on medical records coders-"work at home", because I am unable to find a job. Unfortunately, when I have taken tests and have received 86%, which is below the 95% mark. Most likely it is due to the lack of a certain speciality area. I would like to know why companies do not give coding professionals a chance and help me in the area that I need to increase my skills; rather than turning me down.

I am tempted to retake a home course, just for the job placement. Any advice would be appreciated, except ideas to relocate:-)

i am not sure why these ads keep saying you can work from home, due to HIPAA hardly anyone does that anymore.

there aren't any clinics or hospitals nearby for you to work at? how rural are you?

We only have 2 hospitals located here and one is a 36-bed acute care facility.

I think I am going to go back to school for my bachelors. I am unemployed, so it would be silly for me not to. I figure I will graduate before 40:-)
