I have over 10 years experience as an Executive Assistant/Administrative Assistant and I am looking to try and become a Medical Secretary to open up more venues for me to apply to (i.e. hospitals). I did go on an interview for an Exec Assistant to a dept chief but I think one of the reasons it did not work out for me was because I don't know any medical terminology.

I noticed on job postings they ask for medical terminology or transcription experience - should I enroll for a medical terminology class?

I have legal transcription experience so it might help me with medical transcription too versus me paying for an entire course on medical transcription which is more expensive then just medical terminology.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Firstly, it is very important to spellcheck. After reading your post, you misspelled the word than as then.
With regards to your question about medical terminology, you can take a medical course that includes medical terminology, billing and accurate insurance guidelines and medical documentation. These are integral parts in any medical office. You will also learn how patients are to be acknowledged before they enter a medical practice. The first person a patient "sees" is the person who answers the phone. Answer with a smile in your voice. While this is only the tip of the iceberg, it is an experience that you will never forget. I am a seasoned employee who has 27 rewarding years in this promising industry. There is no other field that could compare to it.

I should teach in this industry.
